Get Ratings Right When You Donate a Car to Charity

Sabtu, 14 Februari 2015

Donate your old car to charity seems like a good idea. Or so it seems. You can get rid of the car without too many distractions and get a tax deduction on it that otherwise you might not get if you try to sell the car yourself. There is also the fact that the former car dealership does not enjoy a very good reputation.

Charitable organizations either use the vehicle for their own purposes or vehicles sold en-masse. Most often the charity uses the dealer with the average price per car that will not be much. There are a number of rules governing such donations. So before you donate a car check the rules governing this contribution.

You have to check the correctness and feasibility of charitable organizations to receive tax-deductible donations. Make sure you get a copy of the letter from the Internal Revenue Service IRS for the tax status of the organization that states the release. You also have to make sure that you get an official receipt for your donation. One thing to keep in mind at all times is that when you donate your car without your cash transactions will attract the attention of the IRS and the audit of the accounts you will be called.
